Memorial Day - Remembering

Robert Rennick, World War I Veteran

We genealogists spend more time than most thinking about and remembering our ancestors.  This Memorial Day Weekend is an excellent opportunity to share that knowledge with other family members.  With all the activities, picnics, and traveling many forget the real meaning of Memorial Day which is to honor our veterans.  If you are gathering with family it is a great opportunity to honor your veteran ancestors by sharing your knowledge of their lives.  Small details like where they lived, what battles they fought in, etc. will make them more a "real" person than a distant memory.  For those who have no family members currently serving in the military this will give them a connection to the true meaning of this weekend.

I will close with a heart felt thank you not only to my own veteran ancestors, but to all the brave men and women, past and present, who have served and sacrificed for their country.
