Tombstone Tuesday - John N. Medwed

I have always enjoyed the Geneabloggers tradition of "Tombstone Tuesday" where bloggers post pictures of gravestones.  In the past few months I have been taking more pictures when I visit cemeteries, not just of my own ancestors graves but interesting markers I come across.  I have found it to be an enjoyable hobby because I just love wandering through cemeteries.  I now finally have a small collection of photos which I can share on Tombstone Tuesday's!

This is John N. Medwed, Calvary Cemetery, Pittsburgh, PA

Gone But Not Forgotten

The graves of children always tend to grab my attention, there is such a sadness about them.  This is not one of my ancestors so I know nothing more about this child other than he died at age 9.  It caught my eye because it was one of only a few statue type markers in this section of Calvary.  I thought it was a beautiful statue of a child and lamb, very peaceful.  Reading the inscription I could feel the great loss his parents and family must have felt.  Rest in peace little angel.
